InfoShare Website - Publicity
InfoShare published an electronic newsletter, the InfoShare Update, to the UCLA Healthcare community in March, April, September and November 2002. Topics included reports on InfoShare needs assessment surveys, the InfoShare planning retreat, InfoShare inventory of resources, and the InfoShare information seminar series. Visit the Update archive.
The InfoShare Noontime Information Technology Series kicked off in July with two events.
- The first, a demonstration of OSCAR by developer Dr. David Chan - OSCAR is a web based, open source application providing electronic patient records, integrated evidence based decision support and knowledge links.
- The second event in July was a discussion of open source solutions by Joseph D. Dal Molin.
- In September, we hosted our third event, a presentation by Val Nenov, PhD on his CareQuest system. This demonstration system provides protected clinical information to physicians on a handheld device (pocket pc, palm operating system devices).
- Our fourth seminar is entitled Collaborative Medical Informatics in Comprehensive Brain Cancer Research. Timothy Cloughesy, Director of the UCLA Neuro-Oncology Program, will present the seminar November 7.
InfoShare Projects
InfoShare is helping to coordinate the design and development of a Clinical Information Portal (CIP) to allow clinicians, researchers and educators access to fully protected clinical health information for research and education. InfoShare established a working group to develop policies and operational methods for this access.
A second InfoShare working group has begun the planning of the information architecture and design for a well organized, easy to use web site for patients. This group includes members from information technology, marketing and the biomedical library.
Both work groups will transition to a development phase following the start of InfoShare Operations. |
