IAIMS Progress Report
November 2003

The University of Cincinnati's IAIMS activities are supported by an IAIMS operations grant (G08 LM7853) awarded in May 2003 (http://medcenter.uc.edu/iaims/).

During the first six months of the operations grant period, UC has achieved the following:
  1. Hired two additional web developers, and focused the activities of existing staff on the development of IAIMS projects, as described in the grant proposal.
  2. Instituted biweekly meetings of the IAIMS Management & Evaluation team (called the IAIMS Project Priorities Group), which consists of the principal investigator, three co-investigators, project leaders, project evaluator, and key operations managers.
  3. Instituted quarterly meetings of the IAIMS Steering Committee under new leadership of the Senior Vice President and Provost for Health Affairs, Jane Henney, MD. Other new members of the committee include the Vice President for Research and Advanced Studies, Howard Jackson, PhD, and the Director and Physician-in-Chief of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research Foundation, Thomas Boat, MD.
  4. Bioinformatics Project
    • Began two education modules
    • Began inventory of users and resources
    • Coalesced team of bioinformatics experts
  5. Portfolio Credentialing Project
    • Completed version 1 of eChecklist
    • Completed version 1 of eGoals
    • Completed version 1 of eRemediation
    • Enhanced eValuation (11,839 evaluation submitted as of 10/30/03)
    • Completed version 1 of eSchedules
    • Enhanced eCourses (7000 HIPAA and Bloodborne Pathogens sessions)
    • Leveraged system to secure two NIH grants to add 7 additional HIPAA courses
  6. Research Administration Project
    • Completed version 1 of eBiosafety (19 protocols submitted as of 10/30/03)
    • Completed version 1 of eXpertise, with eNtrepreneur extension
    • Enhanced eIRB (1417 protocols approved, 273 pending as of 10/30/03)
    • Enhanced eIACUC/LAMS (299 protocols approved; 30,000 animals managed)
    • Enhanced eContracts (707 contracts processed)
  7. Developed first prototype of customized portal based on personal data in the integrated database. Outputs include: curriculum vita, NIH biosketch, personal web page, publications, protocols, and grants.
  8. Continued designing of the development architecture, including enhancing the integrated database upon which all systems are built, developing guidelines for the use of modular services, and creating standards.
